'Cruise with the Fire' set for Oct. 8 at Navy Pier on nine-year anniversary

The FireWorks for Kids Foundation (FWFK), the Chicago Fire's charitable arm, in conjunction with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) will host the fourth annual "Cruise with the Fire" outing on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The family-friendly event will depart from beautiful and historic Navy Pier and board the eloquent Mystic Blue, a sleek, silvery-blue 600-passenger vessel built specifically for cruising the Chicago skyline.

This year's "Cruise with the Fire" coincides with the nine-year anniversary of Chicago's Major League Soccer team, whose name, logo and uniform was unveiled on Oct. 8, 1997 at Navy Pier.

Tickets for the event are $75 for adults and $55 for children 12 and under. The event includes a full buffet brunch, two drink tickets, live DJ, silent auction, raffles, and an autograph and photo session with Chicago Fire players (to be determined).

"We are excited to join forces with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for this year's 'Cruise with the Fire,'" said Jessica Yavitz, Executive Director of the FireWorks for Kids Foundation. "We look forward to once again bringing both our fans and players together for what will no doubt be a memorable experience and one that will benefit a very worthwhile cause."

While riding aboard the Mystic Blue, fans will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive FWFK silent auction that will include autographed memorabilia and gift certificates for fans of all ages, with the proceeds benefiting both the FWFK Foundation and the MDA. Festive music provided by a live DJ will accompany the fabulous view and food, while Fire players will also be available for an autograph/photo session. Families and Fire fans of all ages are welcome to attend, as the cruise will be an excellent way for all to spend an afternoon.
