Crowe has surgery, will miss 6-8 weeks

Washington, D.C. (September 10, 2007) - D.C. United announced today goalkeeper Shawn Crowe has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Team doctor, Chris Annunziata MD, Commonwealth Orthopaedic Associates, performed the procedure at VA Hospital Center. Crowe is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks of action.


Crowe, 24, was selected in the first round (11th overall) in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft on January 18. With the D.C. United Reserves, Crowe has played in three games, including one start. With the reserves, Crowe has yet to give up a goal in 70 minutes of play.


The United reserves yesterday drew at home with the New England Revolution reserves. Guy-Roland Kpene tallied for the hosts in the 1-1 tie. Through the first nine games of the reserve division schedule, United reserves are 4-1-4 (16 points).
