Crew Under-17 All-Stars advance to semifinals of SUM U-17 Cup in Colorado

The Crew advanced to the semifinals of the inaugural SUM U-17 Cup in Commerce City, Colo., Monday, with a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids.


The Crew qualified as the second-place team with the best record, along with three group winners, and will face the Kansas City Wizards at 9 p.m. ET. The Crew went 2-0-1 in group play, tying D.C. United, 2-2, and defeating Real Salt Lake, 2-1.


Soccer United Marketing's inaugural Youth Development soccer tournament kicked off on Friday, July 13, at the soccer complex at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and is being held in conjunction with the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. The tournament features 12 MLS U-17 Youth Development teams and will culminate in the championship game on the Dick's Sporting Goods Park stadium field the morning of Thursday, July 19, at 12 Noon ET.


The 12-team pool is comprised of the U-17 teams of all MLS clubs excluding Toronto FC and the New England Revolution and with two teams representing the Colorado Rapids. The champion will take home the SUM U-17 Cup and earns the opportunity to participate in the 2008 Torneo Quixote in Spain.


The tournament finalists will be invited to watch the MLS All-Stars training session at Dick's Sporting Goods Park stadium field on Wednesday, July 18 as they prepare to face Celtic FC in the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game.


The tournament is being hosted at no cost to all participants as Soccer United Marketing and participating MLS Teams are covering the costs of player travel, accommodations and other tournament-related expenses.
