Crew tops CSD Municipal 2-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Crew brought down the curtain on its 2006 season Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over CSD Municipal, Guatemala's most successful and popular club. Ned Grabavoy and Kei Kamara scored goals on either side of halftime, while Andy Gruenebaum and Noah Palmer shared the shutout in goal, as the Crew improved to 7-1-2 all-time in international exhibitions.

Grabavoy opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a low, long range shot that snuck through traffic to beat Municipal keeper Ricardo Jerez to his left. Kamara doubled the Crew's advantage just two minutes into the second half, getting on the end of a great ball into the box by Jacob Thomas and heading past Jerez.

A total of 20 players saw action for the Crew, while Mario Rodriguez, who spent the 2005 season in Columbus, returned to Crew Stadium with Municipal and played the full 90 minutes.
