COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Crew had its five-game win streak snapped on Saturday as it tied Toronto FC ,0-0, at BMO Field in the second leg of the inaugural Trillium Cup. Although Columbus had its five-game streak snapped, the Crew is still unbeaten in its last six games, with a 5-0-1 record in that span. Both sides had their share of chances on the day, but neither club was able to find a first goal, thanks in part to quality goalkeeping by the Crew's William Hesmer and TFC's Greg Sutton.
Notes:
The Crew's record now stands at 6-1-1 after its first tie of the season and it has now gone unbeaten in six consecutive games. It is off to the best eight-game start in club history.
Goalkeeper William Hesmer recorded his third shutout of the season. He now has eight shutouts since joining the Crew prior to the 2007 season.
Hesmer also tied his current season-high for saves, with six.
Midfielder Brad Evans made his first-ever MLS start, and went the full 90 minutes.
Forward Alejandro Moreno saw his streak of consecutive matches with either a goal or assist snapped at five.
The Crew is now 2-1-1 on the road this season. It will return home to the friendly confines of Crew Stadium next week when it hosts the New England Revolution Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Channel.
