Crew 1, Real Salt Lake 0 -- quote sheet

COLUMBUS CREW 1, REAL SALT LAKE 0

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER

On the loss:
"The frustration is definitely there. Throughout the whole first half I think they had one shot on goal, then just the one in the second half."

On the losing streak:
"When you get to this point, you don't have that play-to-win attitude, you basically are playing not to lose. It is frustrating because you play so well, and you still have chances in the second half but none were finishing. It was definitely poor; that is the only way I can describe it. You try to stay positive at halftime, and you ask them to play better in the second half."

On the play of defender Willis Forko:
"I thought Willis did very well. I saw (Columbus Crew forward) Kei Kamara play against Kansas City last weekend; he did an excellent job and has done well for Columbus this year."

On captain Jason Kreis' suspension:
"It is always an impact not to have Jason. You finally get him back to where he is starting in forward and again it is his leadership and his willingness to die for the franchise that you miss when he's not on the field."

REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER MEHDI BALLOUCHY

On the play of the team despite the loss: "I think today our ability was very good; everyone was moving off the ball. I thought we did well. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong."

REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER CHRIS KLEIN

On the play of the game:
"At this point we are looking at the whole season, and if you just look at tonight's game, I thought we played well. It doesn't even matter how we play, to be real honest, if we aren't getting results. At this point we would rather play extremely poor and get a win. It is just not working for us right now. I don't know what we are doing wrong exactly, but we aren't getting the results."

COLUMBUS CREW HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

On the win:
"There are certain games where you just have to roll up your sleeves and sometimes you just have to win ugly, but the sign of a good team, when you start to become a good team, is when you find a way to win games when you aren't playing your best. I thought our first half today was a throwback to our first half of the year. And we came out 0-0, so we gave ourselves a chance, and I thought it was a little bit better in the second half but it still wasn't our best game where we got points."

On Jason Garey's goal:
"It is a huge moment (for him). That is what he did in college, that is what he's here for and he had the one opportunity and he buried it. We talked about it before the game that sometimes (Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Scott) Garlick gives away the near post. Jason said when he got the ball and he looked up and it was open. He came to me after the goal and said, 'Coach you were right.'"

On the players:
"They showed tremendous heart, and they showed tremendous desire with as many people as we were missing and with one man down at the end of the game and Salt Lake just kept throwing on more forwards. It just becomes a hit-and-miss game at the end. I am very proud of how they battled."

COLUMBUS CREW FORWARD JASON GAREY

On his first career goal:
"It is a good feeling to finally get my first goal. It is the sixth game of the season and my second start, so it feels really good especially because we got the won tonight. It feels really good."

On the play of the team:: "We are a totally new team (than the previous weeks). We are battling through things. Playing away in front of a big crowd, we found a way to win the game. We scrapped and we fought, and we found a way to win it."
