Crew 0, Red Bulls 0 -- quote sheet

COLUMBUS CREW 0, NEW YORK RED BULLS 0

COLUMBUS CREW HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

On the game:
"I thought we didn't play a good first half. I thought we were very tentative, played too many balls short and played in front of their 'D' way too much. In the second half, we wanted to get the ball to our forwards quicker, which I thought we did and I thought in the second half, we were the better team and we clearly had more chances, but we didn't finish them."

On goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum:
"(Crew goalkeeper) Andy Gruenebaum had a good game and came up with some good saves."

On what the fans saw:
"I think the people that came out saw a good game, a game that had chances at both ends of the field. I don't think it was a 0-0 game that was a boring game. I thought it was an exciting game."

COLUMBUS CREW DEFENDER FRANKIE HEJDUK

On the game:
"Both teams came out pumped up and ready to play and they really pressured us [in] the first half, but once we settled down a bit and I got my head right, I thought the second half was pretty solid for the whole team. I thought we played really well and we dominated in the second half and I think that we should have won the game."

COLUMBUS CREW GOALKEEPER ANDY GRUENEBAUM

On the game:
"There were a couple times where I had to come up with a few saves, but for the most part I thought our defense, especially, was amazing. If we keep playing like that defensively we're going to win a lot of games."

On keeping a clean sheet:
"We had a couple [shutouts] in the preseason but this one counts. Hopefully we can bag a goal next time and come away with the win."

NEW YORK RED BULLS HEAD COACH BRUCE ARENA

On the team's performance:
"Obviously, the first half performance was pretty good. We're at fault for not finishing some of our chances. In the second half, they made some adjustments and played better. It was a pretty even game."

On Claudio Reyna:
"I thought he played well tonight. He took a little bit of a knock in the first half. That slowed him down a little bit. In the second half, I obviously thought he played well.

On goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus:
"Ronald played very well. I think in his first game, he made some very big saves. He does a good job in organizing the group in the back."

NEW YORK RED BULLS GOALKEEPER RONALD WATERREUS

On differences between playing in Holland and the U.S.:
"It's a minor thing, but it's something we aren't used to [in Holland] you know, the national anthem before the game. It only happens in Holland if you play a national game with your country. I think that's fun. Obviously it's a minor thing, and for all of you it's the most normal thing in life, but for me that's different."
