Corinthians claim Baptista, again

SAO PAULO - Nelsinho Baptista has been named as head coach at Brazilian giants Corinthians for the fourth time.

He will take charge until the end of the current campaign after leading the club to the Campeonato Brasileiro title in 1990 and also having spells in charge between 1992 and 1993, and from 1996 to 1997.

Baptista replaces outgoing manager Jose 'Ze' Augusto with the team lying in the relegation zone going into the final 11 rounds of the season.

But the 57-year-old is confident he can keep them up as he makes the step back up to top-flight management following his sacking by second division side Ponte Preta last week.

"When you work in a big company you never want to go to a minor one," he told GloboEsporte.com.

"It happens the same in football. Corinthians is a big club despite the position in the table. It is a big challenge and I love challenges."
