Wizards defender and captain Jimmy Conrad has been called in by United States head coach Bob Bradley for the second training camp of 2008 prior to the match against archrival Mexico on Feb. 6. Conrad has 24 career appearances for the USA, including a start Jan. 20 in a 2-0 win over Sweden. The U.S. will train in Carson until Feb. 3 before leaving for Houston. The final roster for the Mexico match, which may include more European-based players, will be finalized prior to the team's departure from Carson.
More than 43,000 tickets have been sold for the showdown with the USA's regional rivals on Feb. 6 in Houston. Kickoff at Reliant Stadium is set for 8 p.m. CT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Univision, as well as on 75 affiliates of the Fútbol de Primera Radio Network. Fans can also follow the game live via ussoccer.com's MatchTracker.
Conrad started in central defense and scored the game-winning goal in the Red, White and Blue's 2-0 victory over Mexico last Feb. 7 in Glendale, Ariz. He will join the Wizards in Bradenton, Fla. for preseason training following the match against Mexico.
