Columbus down South Florida, 2-0

BRADENTON, Florida. - The Columbus Crew defeated the University of South Florida Bulls 2-0 Saturday at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida. Duncan Oughton scored for the Crew in the first half, while George Josten added a second goal after the restart.

The Crew got on the board early in the proceedings when Guilherme So's pass in the 5th minute found the feet of Oughton who collected the feed and struck the ball into the back of the net to give Columbus the early lead and the only goal of the first half.

Following halftime, the Black & Gold switched out its entire lineup, bringing on eleven new players. Despite the mass substitutions, the second half started out much like the first, with the Crew again striking in the early minutes. In the 53rd minute, Tim Ward's probing cross into the box found the head of Josten, who snapped a header past the USF goalkeeper for the Crew's second goal of the day and a final score of 2-0.

On Sunday, the club returns to Columbus for several days before departing for California on its second scheduled preseason trip of 2008.
