Up Close with Kurt Morsink

Kurt Morsink

1. What is the best part about being a rookie and your season thus far?
It's your first year as a pro, so it's a dream come true. I have had the opportunity to be around great veterans, great coaches and I have met a great friend in Eddie (Johnson).

2. As a rookie, what goals do you have for the playoffs and in the offseason?
To help the team in any and every way they need me. What they need, I'll give. I just want to help win.

3. We know that you are close friends with Eddie Johnson, what is the best advice he has given you?
He told me that it's a long season. Halfway through the season things were not going my way or how I would have liked them to. He told me to stay positive and work hard. He said we have a great coaching staff. It's a long season of ups and downs; don't get too down and don't get too up. I listened to that and I have been able to finish well.

4. Who is your roommate on the road and what is something that most people don't know about him?
Eddie. He's a good roommate. He does turn off his phone on game days so there are no distractions.

5. What would you say is the funniest moment within the team this year?
Willy (Guadarrama) beat Nick (Garcia) in a bench pressing contest and the whole team was present.

6. What do you miss the most about Costa Rica?
I miss my friends, family and the home cooking.

7. Who would you like to meet outside of the soccer world?
Nelson Mandela, because of the great, positive influence he was on society.

8. What is your favorite BBQ restaurant here in KC?
Houston's.

9. If you could play on any team, in any game, at any stadium in the world, which one would it be?
I would play for Barcelona versus Real-Madrid at Barcelona.

10. Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
I pray before games.
