Clean Sheet: A weekend well-spent

Hey, anyone catch the couple on the Today Show the other day with the weather guy? Got interviewed for awhile, and they were fully decked out in Revs jerseys. Nice. Meredith Vieira is about to replace Katie Couric on this show and we like Meredith better ... she's been to an MLS All-Star Game.

Oh, and Frank Dell'Apa in The Boston Globe says the Revs might sign Jose Manuel Abundis from south of the 2-0 border.

Hoops vs. Dynamo (8:30 p.m. ET on HDNet) - FC Dallas scored a goal! Our Hoops have a six-point lead and a game in hand, but even I'll admit it's cool that this rivalry means something.

RSL vs. Mile High Club (9 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Channel) - Did you see Kevin Hartman's howler against RSL's Jeff Cunningham midweek. Go check it out in the Sights and Sounds section of this site if you haven't, and then use it to teach "What Not To Do As a Goalkeeper 101."

At least the striker capitalized with a solid post-goal celebration, running to a sideline photographer, grabbing his camera and shooting some quick crowd shots.

Galaxy vs. Wizards (10:30 p.m. ET on Direct Kick and MLSLIVE.tv) - What a week for Kansas City fans. Besides your stinking Royals somehow taking a few games from my miracle Twins, you get to keep the Wizards and Josh Wolff, who had a move to Derby County reportedly shot down over work permit issues. Now get thee a stadium.

Euro 2008 Qualifiers (all day on various outlets) - I'm going to lay down a few scheckels for England-Andorra at noon ET on PPV, and then Setanta Sports USA has Georgia-France and Czech Republic-Wales live, followed by Luxembourg-Holland on delay. FSC has Romania-Bulgaria and Hungary-Norway.

Agassi vs. Becker (not Boris, sometime Saturday on CBS) - Rain is in the forecast Saturday so who knows if and when this match will be played, but Andre's swan song has been really fun to watch.

Boxing anyone? And if that isn't enough sports, there is a great heavyweight fight on Saturday night on Showtime live from Planet LA: crafty veteran James "Lights Out" Toney against wild-swinging Samuel Peter.

SUNDAY

No more Entourage? No problem, still plenty of footie on tap today:

Argentina vs. Brazil (11 a.m. ET on GolTV) - Also a good week for GolTV, which re-upped its deal to show the Spanish league for a few more years, and now has this mouth-watering friendly. Okay, you should never use mouth-watering unless you are talking about a cheese steak or Scarlett Johansson. Or Scarlett eating a cheese steak.

More Euro 2008 Qualifiers - If you haven't seen enough, Setanta Sports USA has replays of the Germany-Ireland and Poland-Finland qualifiers.

Fire vs. Red Bulls (7 p.m. ET on Direct Kick and MLSLIVE.tv) - Couldn't have happened to a nicer team. Did you catch Dwayne De Rosario's half-field goal against the pathetic Fire midweek? Don't worry, Zach Thornton didn't either! You have to check this goal out if you haven't seen it yet.

Chivas USA vs. D.C. United (7 p.m. ET on Direct Kick and MLSLIVE.tv) - Los Goats could actually be in second place by the end of this match against slumping United. Second place. Outside of seeing Cobi Jones last Sunday at the Emmy Awards, I'm glad there is something in Planet LA soccer to be excited about.
