Barcelona were made to struggle but qualified by virtue of their 2-2 draw at Lyon.

The Catalan giants twice led through Andres Iniesta and a Lionel Messi penalty but Les Gones' Brazil midfielder Juninho equalised on each occasion, the second also coming from the spot.

Second place in Group E will go to the wire after Rangers went down 3-2 in Stuttgart.

Walter Smith's men are level on seven points with Lyon, who they meet at Ibrox on December 12. A draw will see Rangers advance on a better head-to-head record.

The Scottish side took the lead at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion through Charlie Adam but Cacau and Pavel Pardo put the Bundesliga champions ahead.

Barry Ferguson levelled matters again but Ciprian Marica's clever flicked finish settled the game in Stuttgart's favour.

Roma are also through after crushing Dynamo Kiev 4-1 in Ukraine.

Christian Panucci maintained his recent goalscoring form with the opener, which was added to by a Ludovic Giuly strike and a brace from Mirko Vucinic.

Dynamo's consolation came from Ismael Bangoura.

Sporting Lisbon's Champions League hopes were extinguished by a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United.
