GUADALAJARA, Jalisco, México - Chivas USA's U-19 Team recorded a 1-1 draw with the Primera 'A' side of Mexican First Division club Atlas today at the Atlas Country Club, on Day 2 of the U-19's landmark trip to Guadalajara, the birthplace of Chivas. Forward Chris Cortez (Mission Viejo, California) scored a second-half equalizer for the visitors on an assist from Sueño MLS Winner Jorge Flores (Anaheim, California) to claim a draw for the visitors against the older and more experienced Atlas side, which plays in Mexico's Primera 'A', or second tier.
After Atlas opened the score in the 16th minute on its first chance of the game, Chivas USA would equalize on the hour mark. Jorge Flores caught Atlas' goalkeeper by surprise on the left side of the box, rounding the 'keeper and delivering a pass to Cortez, who scored with his right foot. William Molina (Van Nuys, California) and Miguel Sánchez (Inglewood, California) would come to earning a second Chivas goal with a pair of dangerous free kicks from outside the box. The game turned into a real 'Clásico' in the final minutes, with both teams pushing forward for the win, and the referee handing out a number of yellow cards to Atlas' players.
