Chivas USA top San Diego State

CARSON, Calif. - John O'Brien, Drew Helm and René Corona scored to give Chivas USA a 3-0 win over San Diego State in a scrimmage played this morning on University Field 1 at The Home Depot Center.


O'Brien, starting his first game for Chivas USA, scored his very first goal for the Red-and-White in the fourth minute. The native of Playa del Rey, California evaded a pair of defenders before launching a 15-yard shot to give Chivas USA a 1-0 lead. In the 46th minute, rookie Helm dribbled past two defenders to put Chivas USA up 2-0. Finally, trialist Corona sealed the deal with a goal in the 68th minute off a rebound.


Chivas USA is preparing for its next MLS home game, against the New York Red Bulls, next Saturday, April 29 at The Home Depot Center. This Saturday, April 22, Chivas USA will play another scrimmage, against California, on University Field 1 at The Home Depot Center at 10:00 a.m.
