Chivas USA, Cal South join in partnership

Chivas USA of Major League Soccer and Cal South Soccer (California Youth Soccer Association - South) announced today an innovative partnership designed to promote the growth of soccer in Southern California. The multi-year agreement will include cooperation in a number of different areas, with Chivas USA providing management guidance to administrators from Cal South's 210 member leagues and clubs, as well as increasing Chivas USA's presence at numerous Cal South events. Cal South members will also enjoy special exclusive promotions with in stadium and on field opportunities at Chivas games.

"With its players, families, coaches and administrators, Cal South is a very strong and extensive soccer community," said Chivas USA President and CEO Shawn Hunter. "We're excited to work with one of the country's premier youth soccer organizations, and I believe both Cal South and Chivas USA will greatly benefit from this partnership."

Cal South President Gregory Falk says the partnership is a natural extension of the existing relationship. "Our interests and goals are mutual," said Falk. "Success for Chivas USA both on and off the field benefits Cal South, and we know that the continued development and excellence of Cal South's programs benefit Chivas USA."

As part of the agreement between the two organizations, Chivas USA will serve as a resource for Cal South administrators, exchanging strategic and organizational expertise, including serving as the title sponsor for the Cal South League President's Summit and the League VIP lunch. Chivas USA will also enhance its presence at Cal South events, including the League Presidents' Summit, the Cal South State and National Cup competitions, and Soccer Nation Expo. Cal South will also use the partnership with Chivas USA to give the youth soccer organization the chance to experience soccer at the highest level in the United States, with special in-game promotions and special ticket deals for Cal South members and their families, as well as giving young players increased exposure to high-level coaching.

Chivas USA currently has three Cal South alumni, midfielder Sacha Kljestan (Huntington Beach, Calif.), defender Jonathan Bornstein (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and forward Ante Razov (Los Angeles, Calif.), as key members of its roster, as well as several other players on the Reserve and Youth Teams. Chivas USA has been a part of a number of Cal South programs in recent years, including the Soccer Nation Expo and the L.A. Futbol Circuit.
