CARSON, Calif. - Ahead of their interconference showdown on Sunday in Carson, Chivas USA and D.C. United will train this Saturday at The Home Depot Center. With just weeks remaining in the Major League Soccer season, both clubs - featuring such stars as Freddy Adu (D.C. United), Alecko Eskandarian (D.C. Chivas USA (8-6-10, 34 pts.), currently in third place in Major League Soccer's Western Conference, is closing in on its first playoff berth in club history. The Mexican-owned club, coached by all-time MLS wins leader Bob Bradley, features international stars such as Claudio Suárez, 'Paco' Palencia and newly acquired defender Johnny García, alongside talented Southern California natives such as Ante Razov (Los Angeles), plus MLS Rookie of the Year front-runners Jonathan Bornstein (Los Alamitos) and Sacha Kljestan (Huntington Beach).
D.C. United (13-3-3, 47 pts.), four-time MLS champion and currently the league's top team, arrives in Los Angeles Friday evening and will train at The Home Depot Center on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. PT. Coached by MLS Coach of the Year candidate Peter Nowak, United features standout American players such as 17-year-old Freddy Adu and Armenian-American striker Alecko Eskandarian, as well as second all-time MLS leading scorer Jaime Moreno and newly signed midfielder Matías Donnet, formerly of Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors.
