Chivas USA 2, Toronto FC 0 -- quote sheet

CHIVAS USA 2, TORONTO FC 0

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI

On beginning the season with a win:
"I thought the guys went in to the game with a good mentality. From the get-go I thought we were decent, and moved the ball pretty good. On the other hand we had a couple of moments in the first half when we lost our discipline a little bit."

On the team's play:
"I thought we were really disciplined and organized, and you know the guys worked really hard and it paid the price."

CHIVAS USA FORWARD ANTE RAZOV

On starting 2007 with a goal:
"It's nice. Maykel Galindo made the play, made a great run, laid off an easy ball, just a tap-in. It was a good read, and he had a good ball played to him. The team played rather well tonight. We've got some work to do, but it's good to have a win early on."

On Toronto FC:
"It's always difficult. They're a new team, you never know what to expect. They're going be a good team."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER SACHA KLJESTAN

On his goal:
"[John] Cunliffe gave the ball to me and the defender never stepped to me, so I just kept going and took a strike and it went in."

On his reaction to his first MLS goal:
"I can't be more excited. I know I have lots of family and friends at the game tonight and there's nothing better than getting that off my back with my first goal in MLS."

TORONTO FC HEAD COACH MO JOHNSTON

On the game:
"I felt that in the first 10 to 15 minutes we were a bit nervous but we settled down a little bit. We created a bunch of chances and couldn't score. Once Chivas scored we were on the backs of our heels. I didn't feel we did enough in the second half. I felt five or six who underachieved could have played better."

On feelings coming in to the game:
"We came up here and gave the ball away too much in the midfield. Normally that's our strength; for me, that was a disappointment."

TORONTO FC DEFENDER JIM BRENNAN

On the game:
"We're disappointed, obviously. We created chances in the first half and didn't finish them, which I think could have made a difference. They had their chances and scored, which I think was the difference between the two halves today."

On his club's play:
"Our club's play, at times, was very well. We moved the ball very and created problems for them. We created five chances and should have finished. They had two chances and scored."

TORONTO FC FORWARD ALECKO ESKANDARIAN

On the game:
"We fought hard but just didn't come out on top."

On points of improvement:
"I just had a bad game and I expect more of myself. Tonight was just one of those days where things didn't go right. No matter what I tried or shots, sometimes things just don't go your way. You just have to suck up your pride and move on."
