Chivas USA 2, Crew 1 -- quote sheet

CHIVAS USA 2, COLUMBUS CREW 1

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI

On the hard-fought victory:
"Columbus is an underrated team. As you can see in the last five or six games, they only lost one and they have been playing very good. I feel that we created quite a few good chances that we should have put away. Their goalkeeper made a couple of very good saves and I have to give them credit, they are a pretty good team."

On the return of the national team players to the lineup:
"We knew when they were away that we were a bit weaker, but the guys that replaced them did a very good job. Obviously, by them coming back tonight to the lineup they gave us a boost and hopefully we get to see them a little bit more often now."

CHIVAS USA GOALKEEPER BRAD GUZAN

On his return to Chivas USA:
"It's good. It feels good. Being back and playing at home and getting three points, being undefeated at home, we want to keep that streak going."

On the different pressure playing with the U.S. national team vs. playing with Chivas USA:
"I don't think there is pressure playing with the national team. Football is football and when you play locally or in Venezuela, a game is a game. Obviously, the level of play goes up in certain regions. But it's exciting."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER FRANCISCO MENDOZA

On the win:
"I am very happy for the goal, what I was really trying to do was to send a cross. Overall I am happy that we gained three points and the win will give us the confidence to keep adding more points, because our conference is very competitive."

On the pressure by Crew by the end of the game:
"We had a bit of good luck; the team was always looking for the victory. I feel that in the last minutes of the game we were a bit unfocused, that's why they came back strong with a powerful attack."

COLUMBUS CREW HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

On the performance:
"This game tonight was not necessarily our best game. I don't think we were horrible. We had some chances. I thought we gave up a couple of goals that were a little bit soft. But they had some chances. Our goalie made some big saves to keep us in it. And it's just one of those, you know. You've got to finish when get your opportunities."

On playing Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center:
"Chivas is a tough team at home, and we took an early goal which we were trying to avoid, but we came back. So we should have been able to walk out of here with a tie, but we didn't."

COLUMBUS CREW FORWARD ALEJANDRO MORENO

On the team's play:
"We didn't seem to get a rhythm. I thought we created enough chances anyway, but in the end - an own goal, and we don't come out of here with anything."

On the result:
"It's obviously very disappointing. It's very frustrating, but it shows that even when we're not doing all the things that we want to do on the field, we're still dangerous, and we still create chances going forward. But at the end of the game it's two to one, and we couldn't find a way to get a positive result."

COLUMBUS CREW MIDFIELDER STEFANI MIGLIORANZI

On his second goal from a header on a corner:
"I thought today's was the better header. Guillermo once again delivered a great ball, and it was there for me to attack. I attacked it and timed it perfectly and outjumped the guard. It looked for a minute like it was going to hit the bar and come back up, but it clipped the underside and went in."

On the own goal:
"The second goal was very unfortunate. It was a mis-cross that hits inside of the leg and goes into the back of the net. It's the type of ball that if he crosses correctly we have the chance at an easy clearance, but it catches you on your heels, and you try to react to it, but it's too late."
