Chivas USA 1, Fire 0 -- quote sheet

CHIVAS USA 1, CHICAGO FIRE 0

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DAVE SARACHAN

On the game:
"Tough night for us. I certainly give Chivas some credit. They came in and did a good job making it hard on us, with a lot of possession and active movement. They're a good team. We never quite got out of second gear tonight. We tried to put our rhythm to the game. I don't think we ever had long stretches of possession like we normally do, and it makes you chase a little bit. I thought for most of the game we did pretty well defensively. I felt this was going to be a one play night. That one play would make the difference. We were hoping it was our play, but it wasn't. I think we fouled up a couple of instances that led to their goal, but they were opportunistic. Dasan [Robinson] slipped, a guy got in behind and in the 78th minute we give up the goal. So it's a tough night for us. We had a number of guys get their first MLS minutes again. We've just have to play the hand we're dealt."

On the team's lack of shots:
"We didn't have the normal cast of characters in play tonight. I think we have a new group that's still trying to feel each other out in a short period of time. It's still a matter of possession and creating your own chances and tonight was a tough night for us to do that. I give Chivas a lot of credit on that end."

CHICAGO FIRE MIDFIELDER DIEGO GUTIERREZ

On the match:
"I think it was a difficult day for us with our spacing, with our passing. Chivas made it hard for us on all areas of the field to be honest. We were pouncing on loose balls and they were running at us. They're a dangerous team. I thought for the most part, we handled them OK. We did decent with the set pieces that they had. I don't think we created enough scoring opportunities and that's what hurt us at the end."

On overcoming their recent losses:
"Anytime we lose games, anytime we give up goals, we obviously go back and we look and see what went wrong and try to correct mistakes. There is no time to throw our arms up and quit and press the panic button. This group has got to persevere. Everybody has a tough stretch and I'm actually glad that it's happening at the beginning of the season and not in September, when you really need to be playing well."

On what he saw on the Chivas USA goal:
"I think we had a couple opportunities to make a play but that pretty much summarizes what the game was like for us today. A lot of little things that build up giving an opportunity that ends up costing us the game."

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI

On the match:
"We worked really hard as a group. We played as a team. We created some things in the first half and the second half and finally we broke through late in the game. Every time you come and play in Chicago, it's a tough place to play. You have to get something. Tonight, we're happy we got three points. First road win of the season."

On getting the club's first road win of the season:
"I thought the last few road games we played very good. Obviously I didn't feel like we got things on the road that we deserved. Sometimes that's the way the game is. I thought tonight we played very well and got three points."

On looking forward to facing Colorado:
"We always look forward to the next game, but for right now, I think we want to enjoy this one. We'll think about that one tomorrow."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER JESSE MARSCH

On their first road win:
"I'm glad that we got that under our belts. I don't feel like we were playing bad, but we just haven't gotten the results. We're unbeaten in the last four games; one was the Galaxy game, the other two were on the road and I think it's a good sign that we're moving in the right direction."

On facing Colorado in their next match:
"I think we're behind in games a little bit, so it's nice to see us collect some points a little bit so that the games in hand don't just mean, oh maybe we can get those wins, but we start actually getting those wins and get ourselves in the hunt in our division and we have a game or two in hand. This is another important game in our division and I think Colorado is much improved from last year and but we always try to be good at home."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER PAULO NAGAMURA

On his first career goal:
"I saw Maykel Galindo get the ball and get inside. I thought I had a chance of making a run outside of him and I don't know whether he intentionally crossed it to me, but the ball goes my way and I saw the defender slip. I saw I had a chance to get it and I tried to finish the ball on my first touch to get the ball in the far corner of the net."

On fitting into the team:
"To be honest, even if I didn't score today, I'm feeling great here at Chivas. They guys welcomed me as soon as I came here. I feel great here and I think the guys did a great job today."
