Chivas de Guadalajara players to meet ailing California teen at L.A. Coliseum Friday

Atlanta, GA - A California teen battling cancer will experience his wish come true today when he meets members of Chivas de Guadalajara, Mexico's most popular soccer team, during practice at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Tomorrow Saturday, he will enjoy prime seats at the highly anticipated 2007 SuperLiga game between the LA Galaxy and Chivas at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Children's Wish Foundation International, a global leader in wish fulfillment for children facing life-threatening illnesses, is granting Hector Castro's wish to meet his soccer idols with Chivas de Guadalajara. The teen was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma metastatic to his lungs. He often wears his Chivas jersey when he undergoes chemotherapy treatments at Loma Linda University hospital in California, where he regales the staff with stories about the team and his favorite players. Love of soccer is a common bond between Hector and his oncologist.

Tonight Hector will meet Chivas de Guadalajara players for practice at the Los Angeles Coliseum at 6 p.m. PT and then take pictures with them. Tomorrow Saturday he will attend the high-profile SuperLiga match between the LA Galaxy and Chivas de Guadalajara, at 7 p.m. PT at the Coliseum.

Children's Wish Foundation International worked with the sports department of La Opinión, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in California, and Chivas USA and the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS), to arrange Hector's wish.

Chivas de Guadalajara, through its Los Angeles-based sister club, Chivas USA (MLS), graciously agreed to meet Hector after learning about his wish. LA Galaxy, as the home team, generously provided tickets for Hector and his family to attend tomorrow's game.

Children's Wish Foundation International was founded 22 years ago to fulfill the favorite wish of any child facing a devastating life-threatening illness and to give that child a magical and unforgettable experience. The organization also works with over 300 hospitals and medical facilities throughout the country to bring special services to hospitalized children, including holiday parties and personal gifts.
