Chivas' Alecko surgery a success

Chivas USA forward Alecko Eskandarian successfully underwent surgery on his left groin. The procedure, a pelvic floor repair and adductor release, was performed by Dr. William C. Meyers at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eskandarian, who has one goal in his only appearance with Chivas USA this season, could be out of action for up to six weeks.

Eskandarian scored for the Red-and-White against Real Salt Lake in Chivas USA's home opener on April 5, and has been out since with a left groin strain. In 105 career Major League Soccer games (70 as a starter), Eskandarian has 23 goals and 10 assists with four MLS teams, playing with D.C. United from 2003-2006 before playing with both Toronto FC and Real Salt Lake in 2007 before joining Chivas USA in January of 2008.

This Thursday, Chivas USA hosts Cuauhtémoc Blanco and the Chicago Fire at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center in an eagerly-awaited match that will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes. To purchase tickets, or for more information, please call 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or visit www.cdchivasusa.com.
