Chelsea stars to shine at Friday practice at Toyota Park

The Chicago Fire has announced that tickets to English Premier League power Chelsea FC's practice session on Friday, Aug. 4 at TOYOTA PARK are selling fast, with more than 6,000 tickets already sold for the event. While tickets to the 2006 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on Saturday, Aug. 5 at TOYOTA PARK (5:30 p.m., ESPN) are sold out, tickets to the Friday practice session - Chelsea's lone open practice in Chicago - are still available by calling 1-888-MLS-FIRE.


Chelsea FC has also announced a time change for their practice session on Friday, Aug. 4 at TOYOTA PARK. The practice session will now start at 5:30 p.m. CT, instead of 4:30 p.m., as previously announced.


"We're delighted to host Chelsea's only practice session in the city," said Chicago Fire President/CEO John Guppy. "Even though the game has been sold out for a while we feel that the Chelsea practice session is the next best thing to catch one of the best clubs in the world up close and personal."

As tickets to the 2006 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game are sold out, the Fire's Premium Seating Department is offering a limited number of seats in select hospitality areas at TOYOTA PARK. Option 1: Includes a fully catered hospitality opportunity on the McDonald's Stage Deck with food/beverage (pre-game) and a ticket to the event. This option is available in advance only by calling 1-888-MLS-FIRE. Option 2: Includes the ultimate fan experience with the opportunity to watch the world's game from the best seats in the house at field level. Option 3: Consists of the opportunity to watch the midsummer classic from a suite. A limited amount of individual Party Suite tickets are available. This year's edition of the midsummer classic will feature the brightest stars from MLS taking on arguably the world's top club, two-time defending English Premier League champion Chelsea FC. The unprecedented event will be televised live nationally on ESPN at 5:30 p.m. Chelsea features 15 players that participated in this summer's FIFA World Cup in Germany, including German National Team defender Michael Ballack, Ukraine's Andriy Shevchenko, England's Frank Lampard and Arjen Robben of the Netherlands. In addition, four members of this year's MLS All-Star squad - Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards), Eddie Pope (Real Salt Lake) and Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids) - all saw significant playing time for the U.S. National Team at this year's World Cup.
