Carlos willing to return to Brazilian side

SAO PAULO - World Cup winning defender Roberto Carlos has revealed he would step out of international retirement at the request of Brazil coach and former international team-mate Dunga.

The former Real Madrid full-back, who is currently playing for Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, last played for Brazil during the quarter-final defeat by eventual finalists France at the World Cup in Germany last year.

The 34-year-old decided to end his international career after receiving criticism from the media, but insists he would be prepared to return for a bid to make a fourth World Cup finals appearance in South Africa in 2010.

"I'm calm, confident and physically fit. If he (Dunga) names me to return to the national team and play the World Cup, I can return," Carlos told Rede Globo.

"I have never been an outstanding player, but I can offer my experience in football."
