Canero undergoes successful left knee surgery

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Red Bull New York announced that 25-year-old midfielder Peter Canero underwent successful surgery to repair a tear of the left medial meniscus today. The Red Bulls' Team Physician, Dr. Edward Decter, performed the surgery at the St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center in Livingston, NJ. Canero is expected to need 3-4 weeks to recover.


After signing with New York on January 12, 2006, Canero has been featured in seven games, starting in one.


The Red Bulls will return to action at home this Saturday, June 17 against the Los Angeles Galaxy. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Giants Stadium. Prior to the match, the Red Bulls will be hosting a viewing party at the Giants Stadium practice bubble of the United States/Italy World Cup encounter at 2:30 p.m. ET.
