Candice Hansard crowned Miss L.A. Galaxy 2007

CARSON, Calif. - Candice Hansard from La Mirada is the new crowned winner of the Miss L.A. Galaxy 2007 contest, presented by CoverGirl; as part of her award she earned a $1000 prize and a makeup gift pack from Cover Girl.


The dean's list student from Biola University defeated nine other finalists in the contest, held on the main concourse of The Home Depot Center prior to the Galaxy-FC Dallas match on Saturday, October 14.


Hansard has assisted in several international volunteer efforts, including working at: a Burmese refugee camp in India; AIDS orphanage in Kenya, Africa; and restoring homes in Tijuana, Mexico. Locally, she has assisted in raising breast cancer awareness through a 5K race, and has served meals at Grace Resource homeless shelter.


Among her hobbies she, enjoys running, dancing, acting, horseback riding and watching soccer matches.


Those named to the Miss L.A. Galaxy court were: first runner-up Kelly Moseley, second runner-up Casimir Spencer and third runner-up Stephanie Caamano.


The Miss L.A. Galaxy contest was created to recognize females who are involved in their community, support community soccer and the Los Angeles Galaxy. The winner was chosen based on her poise, confidence, public speaking abilities and academic success.
