Bulls look to bounce back vs. Crew

making his first Chivas start -- was hauled down straight out from goal just beyond the restraining arc. Ante Razov stepped up and whipped a bending strike around the wall and past a stationary Andy Gruenebaum for his third goal and 101st in his league career.
• But in the 18th minute, the Crew struck back. Guillermo Barros Schelotto -- making his first MLS start -- took a pass on the right side of the area and drew two defenders to him. He laid a pass back for Ned Grabavoy, who strolled in and struck a shot that bounced off the inside of both posts before crossing the line for his second goal on the season.
• Chivas looked to have re-taken the lead in the 33rd minute when a Razov header from a corner kick again beat Gruenebaum, but as he had done on two previous occasions this season, Grabavoy was perfectly positioned to clear off the line and preserve the deadlock.
• Crew head coach Sigi Schmid made three changes to the team that lost 1-0 to the Kansas City Wizards as he put out a completely new-look strike force. Guillermo Barros Schelotto made his first MLS start and newly acquired Alejandro Moreno came into the team, in place of Kei Kamara and the departed Joseph Ngwenya. Stefani Miglioranzi was also given the start, in place of Ricardo Virtuoso.
• Here's Schmid's team (4-3-3): Andy Gruenebaum - Frankie Hejduk, Marcos Gonzalez, Ezra Hendrickson, Rusty Pierce - Ned Grabavoy, Danny O'Rourke, Stefani Miglioranzi (Duncan Oughton 84) - Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Alejandro Moreno, Eddie Gaven (Ricardo Virtuoso 64). Substitutes Not Used: Brad Evans, Jason Garey, Bill Gaudette, Kei Kamara, Chad Marshall

• After having scored just three goals in their first five games - including being shut out on three occasions - Schmid was able to run out a completely different looking front line that included an Argentinean (Schelotto) and a Venezuelan (Moreno), along with former U.S. youth international Eddie Gaven.
• "Overall, I think Alejandro and Guillermo made a difference to our team. They certainly made a difference to our attack," Schmid said. "Alejandro makes a big difference to us because his ability to hold the ball allows the midfielders to link in. Guillermo certainly showed that he's a great player. His combining with Alejandro was already very good, just missing on the one where Alejandro put Guillermo in on the back-heel and he played Alejandro in a couple of times."
• Said Moreno: "It was our first time, obviously, playing together. It seems like we got along very well and we were in sync. Whether or not that is because of our backgrounds, we seem to understand soccer in a similar way."
• The deal for Moreno came together from a call by Schmid to Houston Dynamo, who had always liked Moreno and had him under his tutelage for three seasons with the Los Angeles Galaxy. Kinnear had been interested in Joseph Ngwenya for a while.
• "Obviously it's an exciting opportunity for me. It's a new chance to play and be reunited with Sigi. I'm happy to be here and happy to be here with this group of guys and hopefully we can get some positive results from here on out," Schmid said. "We go way back and I think he understands what I bring to the team and he knows the skills that I offer to the team. I'm happy to get an opportunity to play and contribute to a team and to a group of guys that really want to have good things happen this year."
• The Crew also continued their solid defensive play - despite giving up the early goal, they allowed Chivas nothing else and have allowed just four goals on the season, one or less in five of six games (including three shutouts).
• "The only thing we gave up was a free kick in the first minute. After that we played very good defensively," said Frankie Hejduk. "I don't think defensively we have a problem at all. We've got to score. Period. The goals will come and it's almost kind of like building a new team here with our new additions, it's going to take a game or two to adjust."
• Said Schmid: "It's tough to take a goal like we did that early, that was a real unfortunate one for us. I think we showed some character coming back and tying the game up and I think we were a lot closer to getting the second goal than they were."
