"Bullieve" camp to kick off on Sat., Sept. 1 at Giants Stadium

Over the last four weeks, Red Bull "Bullieve" scouts have scoured the tri-state area for undiscovered, underprivileged soccer talent in order to give those elite players the chance to participate in Saturday's Bullieve Camp. Sixty players - representing Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and Westchester - have been selected to attend Saturday's clinic, which will be held at the Giants Stadium Practice Bubble from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. ET. Running the clinic will be members of the Red Bulls First Team including Assistant Coach John Harkes, Goalkeeper Danny Cepero and Forward Jerrod Laventure along with Technical Director Jeff Agoos, Director of Youth Development Bob Montgomery, the Red Bulls Academy Coaches and the Red Bulls Training Programs Coaches. The staff will lead the players through a professionally run practice session and offer instruction and training advice.

The New York City-area Bullieve initiative, fostered in conjunction with Red Bull New York, is a branch of the nationwide Bullieve program instituted by Red Bull North America. Bullieve looks to remove financial barriers associated with professional youth training and club soccer while shedding new light on underprivileged youths with special soccer talent. Bullieve's outreach is intended to sweep the nation, and the greater New York City area was the second target city for the program. Bullieve first sent scouts to Chicago in May and then ventured to the tri-state area in July and August. Among the locations scouted in the region were Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Hempstead State Park on Long Island, Pier 40 in Manhattan, Flushing Meadow in Queens and the Parade Grounds in Brooklyn.

Following the clinic, the participants and their families will attend the Red Bulls/Fire match at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match between the Eastern Conference rivals features two of the most exciting newcomers in Major League Soccer, including Red Bulls striker Juan Pablo Angel who has scored 13 goals in 16 games this season and Mexican star Cuauhtemoc Blanco, who has made an immediate impact in Chicago since joining the Fire last month.
