Buddle wins Sierra Mist Goal of the Week

CARSON, Calif. - LA Galaxy forward Edson Buddle's game-winning goal against Toronto FC was voted as the Sierra Mist MLS Goal of the Week for Week 28, beating out the Rapids' Omar Cummings, the Crew's Guillermo Barros Schelotte and Stefani Miglioranzi and New England's Steve Ralston. Buddle recorded better than 35 percent of the voting, which started on Monday and closed on Wednesday.

Playing in his first game since September 19, Buddle made an immediate impact as he came into the game in the 77th minute for Josh Tudela. One minute later, Buddle found himself on the end of Chris Klein's cross and was able to tuck the ball into the empty net, giving the Galaxy a 2-1 win over Toronto FC. The goal was Buddle's fifth of the season and ensured that the Galaxy would extend their winning streak to five heading into the final week of the season.

The Galaxy will look to stretch their winning streak to six on Thursday when they take on the New York Red Bulls at The Home Depot Center at 8 p.m. in their final regular season home game of 2007. LA will need either a win or a draw in order to stay in the running for a postseason berth. They will play their final game of the season at Chicago on Sunday, October 21 at 12 p.m., live on FSN West and Telefutura.
