Buck Shaw Stadium renovations underway

The stadium field is being upgraded with a natural grass surface and 5,000 additional seats.

The Earthquakes are running full steam ahead as we are preparing for the 2008 season home opener. The first Earthquakes home game is Saturday, April 12 against the Chicago Fire at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland. The Quakes' will debut their new temporary home of Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara on Saturday, May 3rd.

Right now Buck Shaw is undergoing a transformation to secure the Earthquakes' new home. There are many renovations we are making to Buck Shaw, including adding roughly 5,000 additional seats to the seating selection. The stadium field is being upgraded with brand new natural grass surface; and we have installed a state of the art artificial turf surface on Stanton Field. The artificial turf was flown in directly from Italy, and will be an all-weather practice field.

In addition, we are installing a state of the art video board, sound system, and significantly upgrading the lighting in Buck Shaw Stadium. We will be adding extensive concessions areas including hospitality tents and a BBQ area. The Earthquakes are excited to play at Buck Shaw Stadium, which was the collegiate home to current Quakes' Joe Cannon and Ryan Cochrane.

Continue to check back here for more information as the stadium continues to evolve. We look forward to seeing you out at Buck Shaw Stadium on May 3rd as the Earthquakes play host to FC Dallas at 7pm.
