Brian Dunseth joins Real Salt Lake/700 AM the Zone broadcast team

SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake and Sports Radio 700 AM The Zone are pleased to announce that Brian Dunseth has rejoined the RSL organization as part of the team's pre- and post-game broadcast team. Dunseth, a 10-year MLS veteran defender who was a staple on Real Salt Lake's back line during the team's inaugural season in 2005, will assume duties beginning tonight as co-host of "RSL First Kick", the official pre-game show of Real Salt Lake, as well as "RSL Extra Time", the team's caller-driven post-game show. Dunseth will join Spencer Checketts on the shows, which broadcast live from Rice-Eccles Stadium for home games, then move to Fiddler's Elbow/Salt Lake Pizza and Pasta for away games.

RSL First Kick begins one hour before kickoff every game night, while RSL Extra Time, in which fans can provide their thoughts/feedback by calling 4-700-700 in Ogden, 5-700-700 in Salt Lake, and 6-700-700 in Provo, all in the 801 area code, begins 15 minutes after the final whistle on Sports Radio 700 AM The Zone.

"I am very excited to be back with the Real Salt Lake organization," said Dunseth, who recently returned to Salt Lake City as a real estate agent for The Bringhurst Group, an official sponsor of RSL. "I feel that my 10 years of Major League Soccer experience, along with the familiarity I have with this market will allow me to offer unique insight and bring some soccer credibility to the broadcasts.

"Having been in MLS locker rooms over the last decade, along with spending a ton of time with many of the players still in the league today, I feel that I am qualified to make assessments and critical analysis of happenings both on and off the field," continued Dunseth. "I always hoped that after my playing days were over, I would still be able to find a home in the game of soccer. I would like to thank the Real Salt Lake organization for this opportunity; I plan to make the most of it."

Dunseth appeared in 171 games with 149 starts over his 10-year Major League Soccer career. He started as a Project-40 signee for New England in 1997, remaining with the Revolution for the first five years of his career. He then spent one season in Miami and two in Columbus followed by a short stint with Dallas late in 2003.

After one season as the MVP of the Swedish Superettan League in 2004 for Bodens BK, the former captain of the 2000 U.S. Olympic team landed in Salt Lake City in December, 2004, as one of the expansion team's first player signings. He was traded to Chivas USA in the off-season in exchange for current RSL players Douglas Sequeira and Christian Jimenez, before finishing his career with the Los Angeles Galaxy earlier this season.

"Dunny" scored five goals and tallied six assists in his MLS career, including the game-winning goal during Real Salt Lake's inaugural home game in front of a sold-out crowd of 25,287 fans at Rice-Eccles Stadium on April 16th, 2005. RSL beat Rocky Mountain Cup rival Colorado Rapids, 1-0 on that day, and the goal remains one of the defining moments of Real Salt Lake's brief history.

Real Salt Lake (4-10-4. 16 pts) will look to gain ground in the MLS playoff race tonight as they take on Western Conference rivals Chivas USA (6-6-7, 25 pts) at Rice-Eccles Stadium kicking off at 7:00 MT.
