Blackout

Ticket packages and individual game tickets are now available for all possible D.C. United home games for the 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs. Following a 4-1 win over Toronto FC last Saturday, D.C. United sits atop the Major League Soccer standings with a record of 16-6-5 (53 points), four points clear of the New England Revolution in the Eastern Conference. The Black-and-Red are undefeated in their past 11 League games, winning nine and securing 29 out of 33 possible standings points during the stretch. United has three regular season games remaining before beginning the quest for a League-record fifth MLS Cup. With the return of playoff soccer at RFK Stadium comes the Blackout. Since 1999, United supporters have created the best atmosphere in the League, with unprecedented crowds dressing in black as a show of support for United.

Tickets for D.C. United planholders continue to be on sale in the form of a three-game strip for the best remaining seats at the best price. Games include United's home game in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series, a potential Eastern Conference Final match and a seat to the 2007 MLS Cup at RFK Stadium on November 18. With 10 major domestic and international trophies to the team's credit, D.C. United is the most successful team in Major League Soccer history. The club has won four MLS Cup championships ('96. '97, '99 & '04), three Supporters' Shields ('97, '98 & '06), a CONCACAF Champions' Cup ('98), an InterAmerican Cup ('98) and a U.S. Open Cup title ('96). United has made the playoffs nine of 12 seasons, winning 15 of 19 playoff series, and has an overall record of 24-8-2 in all playoff games.

With MLS Cup being held at RFK Stadium this year, United has the unique opportunity to be only the third team in League history to play the championship game in its home stadium. United is the only club to have previously won MLS Cup in its home stadium, when it did so in front of 57,431 fans at MLS Cup 1997. D.C. earned a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids in 1997. The victory also marks the first time a professional sports franchise from Washington, DC has clinched a league title playing in the Nation's Capital.
