Behind the Badge: Chivas beats D.C.

Clyde Simms and D.C. United fell to Chivas 1-0 during preseason play.

D.C. United fell to Chivas USA 1-0 at the Track and Field Stadium at The Home Depot Center on Monday. A goal early in the second half from Chivas youth product Arnaldo Salazar was the only score of the game. Chukwudi Chijinju received a long ball behind the defense on the right side and took a touch into the box before laying the ball across the face of the goal for a sliding Salazar to finish. As has been the case throughout pre-season, Head Coach Tom Soehn made wholesale lineup changes at halftime, as several new players found the field for the first time.

D.C. United kicks off its 2008 MLS season on March 29 at Kansas City before playing its 2008 Home Opener against Toronto FC on Saturday, April 5 at RFK Stadium.
