Bayern Munich closing in on Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich recovered from falling behind to continue their march towards the Bundesliga title with a 3-1 win at Eintract Frankfurt.

Frankfurt pulled ahead in the 29th minute through Benjamin Kohler, but watched on as Daniel van Buyten equalised at the hour mark before Italy striker Luca Toni scored a brace within 11 second-half minutes to decide the game.

Bayern's fourth win in their past five games means they have a 10-point lead over Werder Bremen, who won 2-1 at Hansa Rostock on Tuesday, with five matches to play.

Defending champions Stuttgart continued their march up the table with a convincing 3-0 victory over bottom club Nurnberg.

First-half goals from Cacau, Antonio da Silva and Fernando Meira settled the match in the hosts' favour - their seventh in nine games to move them just three points from a Champions League place.

Defeat for Nurnberg leaves them at the foot of the table, five points from safety.

Arminia Bielefeld climbed out of the drop zone following a well-deserved 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Andre Mijatovic sank a header in the 51st minute, and despite also missing a late penalty, the hosts moved a point clear of the bottom three.

Borussia Dortmund crashed to a 3-1 home defeat against Hannover to deny them a confidence boost ahead of this weekend's DFB-Pokal final showdown with Bayern Munich.

Arnold Jan Bruggink and Frank Fahrenhorst gave the visitors a 2-0 lead before Alexander Frei pulled one back for the hosts in the 65th minute.

But Szabolcs Huszti confirmed the victory when he netted 13 minutes later.

In Wednesday night's only other match Karlsruhe grabbed a 1-0 win at Duisburg thanks to Tamas Hajnal's 81st-minute winner.

On Tuesday night, Kevin Kuranyi bagged four goals as Schalke stormed to a 5-0 victory at home to Energie Cottbus in the first game under their new coaching duo.

After the sacking of Mirko Slomka, Mike Buskens and Youri Mulder took over the reigns and saw their Schalke side come up with the perfect answer to the week's turmoil.

Cottbus' Vragel da Silva scored an own goal in the 31st minute and Kuranyi followed with goals in the 37th, 41st, 59th and 80th for Schalke, who remain two points behind second-placed Bremen.

Bremen picked up their third straight victory with a 2-1 win at Hansa Rostock.

Ivan Klasnic snatched the winner eight minutes from time after Stefan Wachter had kept out Naldo's penalty.

Torsten Frings had opened the scoring for the visitors in the 57th minute only for substitute Sebastian Hahnge to bring Rostock level.

Hertha Berlin and Hamburg failed to illuminate the Olympic Stadium in a goalless draw which extends both sides' runs of poor form.

And Bochum edged past an in-form Wolfsburg side 1-0 thanks to Stanislav Sestak's late goal.
