Barrett, Soumare lead Gen adidas to win

Bakary Soumare helped lead Generation adidas to a win over Rayo Vallecano.

The Generation adidas team played to a 1-0 victory over the Rayo Vallecano Reserves today at the Ciudad de Futbol stadium in Madrid, Spain. Fire midfielder Bakary Soumare started and played the full 90 minutes, while forward Chad Barrett started and played 65 minutes in the win. The goal was scored in the 26th minute by Nathan Sturgis on a shot from the top of the box that bounced off the far post and into the net, with Jacob Peterson notching an assist on the tally.

The first half was a physical affair that saw four players get booked and Hunter Freeman ejected in the 35th minute. In the second half, both teams settled down and played offensive and entertaining soccer. Despite the ejection, Generation adidas played with 11 players in the second half, as Willie Sims came on for Freeman. Generation adidas came close to scoring on several opportunities, but the Vallecano goalkeeper came up with some excellent saves on point blank shots by Chad Barrett and Kei Kamara.
