Barca to bounce back vs. Rangers

Iniesta insists that Barcelona is ready for the Rangers saying, "We are here to win, not to take a draw."

GLASGOW - Andres Iniesta is confident Barcelona know what to expect from Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday night having already come up against fellow Glasgow giants Celtic.

Barcelona were sent crashing out of the UEFA Cup by Celtic in 2004, before both teams met again in the Champions League the following season.

The Primera Division outfit experienced mixed results against the Scottish champions and Iniesta is expecting another tough game from Rangers at Ibrox, just a few days after they claimed victory in the first Old Firm derby of the season.

But he has warned Walter Smith's men that Barcelona have no intention of returning home with anything less than three points from the clash at Ibrox.

"We have played against Celtic before and we know that it's going to be an intense match," he said. "We will be the favourites but we will have to give it our best on the field.

"Rangers are a good team and they have good forward players. We have seen their league on TV. But we are here to win, not just to take a draw."

Rangers and Barcelona sit level on points at the top of Group E, after both winning their opening matches against Stuttgart and Lyon.

"Maybe it's a surprise," Iniesta said of Rangers' impressive start to the section. "On paper, Barcelona and Lyon were the favourites but Rangers have shown they can fight to win games.

"After this game, we will see who is going to fight for their place in the next round."

Barcelona are in need of a confidence-booster after suffering their first defeat of the season at Villarreal at the weekend.

"We just need to play our game, keep the ball and push forward and hopefully we will get a good result," said Iniesta.

Rangers' gruelling schedule means several players took part in Scotland's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Ukraine and Georgia, before heading straight into Saturday's crucial match against Celtic.

However, Barca coach Frank Rijkaard insists Rangers are not the only team worried about fatigue affecting their top players.

He said: "It's a good question for all the football organisations because it's important that the footballers can stay physically in shape during the season.

"We are already noticing that all the travelling, especially to South America, is very difficult and it's hard for them to join the club again and perform.

"Some of the players are coming back from South America and are having just one training session before having to play in another big match.

"It's quite complicated but that's the way it is and more teams are suffering from that. There is going to be more talk about that because more people are complaining about it."

Ronaldinho was dropped for the 3-1 defeat at El Madrigal after returning late from international duty with Brazil but has been re-instated to the squad for tonight's match.

"It's an important match and he is aware of that," said Rijkaard. "He is an important player on the pitch, that's the way I always look at him."
