Angel meets Colombian president Uribe at ceremony honoring former U.S. president Clinton

SECAUCUS, NJ - New York Red Bulls forward and Colombian international Juan Pablo Angel attended an event last Friday night hosted by the Colombian consulate in New York City, which honored former U.S. President Bill Clinton and current Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

The ceremony honoring Presidents Clinton and Uribe consisted of an emotional presentation of Clinton's visits to Colombia that showed the appreciation the Colombian people feel towards him and his contributions to the country. At the end of the presentation, Angel had the opportunity to speak with President Uribe.

"It gives me great pleasure to meet Juan Pablo," President Uribe said. "I've heard he has been very successful on the soccer field in the United States and we feel very proud that a Colombian is representing our country so well. I wish him and his family all the best in the future."

"I'm very proud to meet and speak with President Uribe," Angel said. "I feel very happy to share this moment with my family. It is definitely an experience that I will remember and has been another great moment for me personally since I arrived in MLS."

Recently named the MLS Player of the Month in May, Angel has scored seven goals and two assists in six regular season games. Angel and the league-leading Red Bulls return to action Saturday, June 16 to face the Kansas City Wizards at Giants Stadium at 7:30 PM (TV: FSN-NY).
