Altidore, Stammler appear at Br!ck Awards

Jozy Altidore

SECAUCUS, NJ - Jozy Altidore and Seth Stammler were among the celebrity guests in attendance at the 2007 BR!CK Awards on Tuesday evening at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. The BR!CK Awards is the first televised awards show dedicated to changing the world in a positive manner. The 17-year-old Altidore and 25-year-old Stammler were invited because of their community involvement in not just the tri-state area, but in Haiti as well. Last November, Altidore and Stammler were among the three Red Bulls players who traveled on a six-day service trip to Haiti with hip-hop musician Wyclef Jean's charitable movement, Yele Haiti.

On stage, the BR!CK Awards honored 12 young people who have embarked on truly inspirational philanthropic endeavors. Among the winners were 25-year-old Kimmie Weeks, who was a survivor of the Liberian civil war and started an organization called Youth Action International which helps children in war-torn African nations, 24-year-old Brooklyn native Divine Bradley, who converted his home in Bed-Stuy into a community center which provides self-development programs, career and financial literacy training and community service projects, and 11-year-old Hannah Taylor who has raised over 1 million dollars through her Ladybug Foundation to help Canada's homeless and hungry.

Joining Altidore and Stammler as the celebrity invites in attendance included musicians LeAnn Rimes, Mandy Moore, and Wyclef Jean, actresses Jamie Lynn Sigler, Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, and Hilarie Burton, and supermodel Petra Nemcova. All of the invites share one thing in common- a passion for community activism that positively impacts the lives of people in need throughout the world.
