2007 RSL Kickoff Luncheon raises over $27,000 for United Way of Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake and United Way of Salt Lake announced today that Monday's Third Annual RSL Kickoff Luncheon raised proceeds in excess of $27,000 on behalf of the local United Way chapter. Through sponsorship, table and seat purchases, and the popular silent auction, a total of $27,205 was raised at this year's RSL Kickoff Luncheon, which featured former Utah Jazz Head Coach/GM Frank Layden as the day's keynote speaker and, for the first time, a fashion show featuring the entire RSL roster and family members of the team's players and coaches.

"We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generosity," said Jamie Barton, RSL Director of Community Relations and Events. "Special thanks go out to two outstanding volunteers, Deb Harper of Harper Concrete and Jaime Catmull of Rene Magazine, who contributed countless hours towards making this luncheon an incredible success."

Real Salt Lake would also like to thank the following sponsors for their support of this year's RSL Kickoff Luncheon - Allison Dayton, Bumpy Pitch, Rene Magazine, Dillard's, Lucky Pirate Denim Bar, Cherella, CALLE, Bastille, 10, Real Sports, Candy Jade, Sunglasses Only, Express, Mr. Mac, Landis Salon, Lancôme, Ferrari Color, Signature Press and Love Communications. While the Luncheon may be over, fans can still contribute to the United Way by bidding on items worn by RSL players during Monday's Fashion Show. Nine items are currently available via an online auction on the club's official website, www.RealSaltLake.com, and can be bid on through this Friday, April 6, at 5:00 p.m. MT.

The annual Luncheon benefit kicked off the 2007 edition of "Real Week", a weeklong schedule of events across the Salt Lake Valley leading up to RSL's home opener, and will continue to be an annual tradition. KALL-AM 700 "The Zone" host Bill Riley will help usher in the new store with a live remote of "The Bill Riley Show" from 1:00-4:00 p.m. tomorrow, while M/F Duke Hashimoto (4:00-5:00 P.M.), M/F Jamie Watson (5:00-6:00), and MF Mehdi Ballouchy (6:00-7:00 p.m.) will also be on hand to sign autographs for fans.
