L.A. GALAXY WRAP UP SEASON SERIES AGAINST CHICAGO FIRE ON SATURDAY IN CARSON: The Los Angeles Galaxy (9-6-7, 34 pts - 1st West) wrap up their season series against the Chicago Fire (5-9-7, 22 pts - 5th East) on Saturday, August 21 on Budweiser Hispanic Heritage Night at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA (see more details below). The 7:00 pm (PT) match will pit two teams who have already played a pair of thrilling games against one another in 2004, both Galaxy victories. The first was a 3-2 come-from-behind triumph on June 12 in Carson and the second was a dramatic 1-0 win at Soldier Field on June 27. This week's game will be televised nationally on ESPN2's Soccer Saturday on a tape-delayed basis beginning at 9 pm (PT). Radio listeners throughout the Southland will also have the chance to hear the game live in English (KMPC 1540 AM), Spanish (KMXE 830 AM) and Korean (KYPA 1230 AM).
BUDWEISER HISPANIC HERITAGE NIGHT FESTIVITIES PLANNED: The Galaxy are proud to present the fourth annual Budweiser Hispanic Heritage Night featuring music, food and more at The Home Depot Center in Carson. Following the match between the Galaxy and the Chicago Fire, Latin recording artist Yolanda Perez, a native of nearby Corona, will treat Southern California soccer fans to a thrilling post-game musical performance. There will also be nearly two hours of pre-game entertainment from several local music groups. Local groups performing prior to the game include: Mariachi Latino, Principes Del Ritmo Juvenil (cumbia/sonidero format) and Banda Imperio Sinaloense (banda format). They will begin entertaining fans at 5:30 p.m. and continue until the Galaxy-Fire match kicks off at 7 p.m. Perez, of Mexican-American heritage, will be highlighting the evening's musical performances after the match. Her bilingual urban hybrid song "Estoy Enamorada" (I'm in Love) reached the top ten on Billboard's Regional Mexican Airplay listings earlier this year.

FIRST ANNUAL HISPANIC HERITAGE NIGHT RECRUITMENT FAIR: The Galaxy have also added to the schedule the 1st Annual Hispanic Heritage Night Recruitment Fair, allowing companies a unique opportunity to recruit prospective Hispanic and bilingual employees. With more than 25 companies scheduled to participate, the recruitment fair should be a great opportunity for any fan attending the game to explore new job opportunities. Among those represented will be: Diverse Connections, Vulcan Materials Co., Team One, State Farm Insurance, Toyota Motor Sales USA, Brinks Home Security, AIG American Intl. Group, Christian Latin Business Assn., LA Care Health Plan, Aztec Tents & Events, Ameriquest Mortgage Company and Benchmark Staffing.
MARSHALL, MORENO, RUIZ JOIN RESPECTIVE NATIONAL TEAMS: Los Angeles Galaxy forward Alejandro Moreno, defender Tyrone Marshall and forward Carlos Ruiz have been called into their respective national teams. Marshall and Ruiz were called up in advance of the start of the semifinal round of CONCACAF qualifying to the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, while Moreno will play in an international friendly. Marshall is slated to play for Jamaica as they open at home against the USA on Wednesday, August 18 at the National Stadium in Kingston. Moreno will play for Venezuela against Spain, also on that date in Las Palmas. Ruiz, meanwhile, will be available for selection in Guatemala's match the same day against Canada in Vancouver. All three players will return to the Galaxy in time to play in this Saturday's match against the Chicago Fire.
GALAXY EXTEND WESTERN CONFERENCE LEAD WITH TIE AGAINST THE CREW: The Galaxy's tie with the Columbus Crew Saturday, coupled with the Kansas City Wizards' 2-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes, enabled the Galaxy extend their lead atop MLS' Western Conference to two points. L.A.'s back and forth affair against Columbus ended in an entertaining yet scoreless draw, with both teams having chances in either half, but unable to hit home. The shutout of the Crew was the fifth the season for Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, one of three 'keepers in League history to record 40 or more in his career. Meanwhile, the Wizards succumbed to two Landon Donovan goals in their loss to the Earthquakes and were dealt an even bigger blow when midfielder Chris Klein tore the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in his left knee and is out for the season. Both teams will be in action again this week - while the Galaxy will play host the Fire on Saturday, the Wizards will have two road games, a mid-week tilt at Columbus on Wednesday followed by a match Saturday at New England.
BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVES CONCLUDE AT SATURDAY'S GAME: The Los Angeles Galaxy, along with Southern California Edison, will be hosting their final Back to School Drive at their home game on Saturday, August 21. They will be collecting new and unused school supplies for underserved children, including the following items: pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, crayons, markers, backpacks, etc. or a monetary donation of $5.00. The first 1,000 fans that donate at least five dollars worth of merchandise will receive a Galaxy Luggage tag!
MAS GALAXY PREVIEWS THE GALAXY AND THE FIRE: Más Galaxy, the club's Spanish-Language radio talk show, which airs each Wednesday at 8 pm on KMXE 830 AM, will give fans an inside look at the Galaxy-Fire match this week. The program, hosted by Troy Santiago and Rigoberto Cervantez, will feature interviews with guests from around the league as well as analysis by both Santiago and Cervantez.
