Quakes Reshape Team at MLS SuperDraft
The San Jose Earthquakes made a number of transactions and selected seven players in a busy day at the 2005 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The Earthquakes made two major trades to acquire midfielder Ricardo Clark, midfielder Brad Davis and an allocation, while also selecting Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy winner Danny O'Rourke with their first round pick. Prior to making their first selection in the draft, the Quakes acquired midfielder Ricardo Clark from the MetroStars in their first trade of the day. The Quakes then picked up midfielder Brad Davis, an allocation and the fourth overall pick in exchange for midfielder Richard Mulrooney, midfielder Arturo Alvarez and the sixth and 29th overall picks. With the fourth pick, San Jose selected the highly touted O'Rourke from Indiana University. O'Rourke, 21, captained the Hoosiers to back-to-back national championships in his junior and senior years, on his way to being named the MAC Hermann Trophy winner in 2004. The Hoosiers posted a 69-15-9 record in his four years, while O'Rourke was named All-Big Ten for three straight seasons. Brad Davis, 23, has been a strong player in MLS in his first three seasons after being named a Rookie of the Year finalist in 2002. In his three-year career, the former St. Louis University star has appeared in 79 games, while recording 12 goals and 10 assists for 34 career points from the midfield. In the second round of the SuperDraft, the Quakes picked up Kevin Goldthwaite, a left-footed defender from Notre Dame. The Sacramento native developed into one of the top defenders in the nation and was a Hermann Trophy semifinalist in his senior season. Goldthwaite, 22, was a two-time All-Big East selection and helped lead the Fighting Irish to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He finished his career with six goals and 24 assists. The Quakes made a splash in the third round with three consecutive selections, Victor Arbelaez (30th), Orlando Ramirez (31st) and Craig (C.J.) Klaas (32nd). San Jose wrapped up its draft day with two fourth round selections, Antouman Jallow (41st) and James Twellman (42nd).

Ricardo Clark Comes to Quakes
The San Jose Earthquakes made a major trade at the 2005 MLS SuperDraft as they acquired former Rookie of the Year finalist Ricardo Clark from the MetroStars in exchange for a youth international slot and a portion of the allocation the team received for Landon Donovan. San Jose now has two youth international slots available, down from the maximum three allowed under league rules. Clark, 21, is entering his third season in MLS after making a big impact in his first two seasons while with the MetroStars. A Rookie of the Year finalist in 2003, the defensive midfielder has appeared in 54 matches in his career and notched four goals and recorded two assists. As a rookie, he became an instant starter and played in 28 games as the MetroStars put together a solid season that saw them qualify for the playoffs with 42 points. He scored three goals and notched one assist, while also setting the club record by starting 27 consecutive games in his first year.

Opening Day
The San Jose Earthquakes will kick off the 2005 MLS season with a home match against the New England Revolution on Saturday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. PT at Spartan Stadium. The Quakes are unbeaten in their last 10 matches against the Revs, posting an 8-0-2 record in those matches. The remainder of the team's 2005 schedule will be announced at a later date.
Season Tickets on Sale Now
San Jose Earthquakes season ticket packages for the 2005 season at Spartan Stadium are now on sale. The Earthquakes 2005 season ticket package features 18 games, including all MLS regular season games and special bonus games. The Quakes season ticket pricing once again consists of a Youth (14 and younger) and a Senior (60 and over) discount in three price levels. Prices for the 2005 season ticket packages are $198 adult ($162 youth/senior) for Endzone, $252 adult ($198 youth/senior) for East Sideline, $450 ($396 youth/senior) for West Sideline and $720 for VIP seats.
