CHIVAS WITHOUT BORDERS: Chivas USA proudly announced on Friday that a Chivas Select Team featuring players from Chivas Guadalajara and Chivas USA will face Mexican First Division side Santos Laguna in Santa Barbara, California in a benefit for hurricane victims in the Gulf Coast region. This unique exhibition match, presented by Chivas USA in conjunction with Santa Barbara Soccer Entertainment, will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. PT at Harder Stadium on the Campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara and will be broadcast live in the United States by Fox Sports en Español, Fox Soccer Channel and Radiovisa 830 AM, and worldwide by Fox Sports Latin America, Fox Sports World Canada and Fox Sports Middle East/Africa. All proceeds from this historic game, which marks the first time players from Chivas USA and sister club Chivas Guadalajara will play together on the same team, will go to the hurricane relief efforts of the American Red Cross in the Gulf Coast region.


RIDGLINE RAFFLE: On Sunday October 16, day of 'La Celebración del Pueblo' (Celebration of the People) a 2006 Honda Ridgeline will be raffled off to one lucky fan after the game between Chivas USA and the MetroStars. To participate, fans will have until halftime of Chivas USA vs. MetroStars game on October 16, to sign up for the raffle. Fans can sign up at The Home Depot Center's North/East ticket booths where the 2006 Honda Ridgeline will be in display. LAST TIME AROUND: The last match between Chivas USA and the Colorado Rapids was on September 24, when Chivas USA lost 3-1 with goals by Arturo Torres for Chivas USA and Jean-Philippe Peguero, Jovan Kirovski and Dedi Ben Dayan for the Colorado Rapids.


FIRST WIN ON THE ROAD: Chivas USA registered the first road game victory in franchise history, last Saturday after beating the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium in Ohio with a 60th-minute Paco Palencia goal, Chivas USA are now 4-21-5 (W-L-T) 17 points.


CHIVAS USA RESERVES EARN SECOND VICTORY: The Chivas USA Reserves earned their second victory of the inaugural MLS Reserve Division after a 2-0 victory over the Columbus Crew Reserves. The two Red-and-White goals were scored by Rodrigo López at the 52nd-minute and Antonio Martínez at the 56th-minute.


SEQUEIRA CLOSE TO GERMANY: Chivas USA defender Douglas Sequeira traveled to Costa Rica this past weekend and joined his National Team to participate in the last two qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The Costa Rica National Team now has 13 points and needs to win their next two games to assure a spot in the next World Cup, along with United States and Mexico who are already qualified. Next Saturday October 8, Costa Rica will host the U.S. National Team at Saprissa Stadium in San Jose. Costa Rica then will visit Guatemala on Wednesday October 12, for their last qualifying game.


GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara visited second place team Cruz Azul in Match day 10 of the Mexican 2005 Apertura, at Azul Stadium last Sunday in Mexico City where the game ended at a 0-0 draw. Chivas de Guadalajara's next league match will be on Saturday October 15, when they host Club Monterrey at Jalisco Stadium.


CHIVAS USA, THE LAST TO BEAT ÁMERICA: Chivas USA was the last team to beat Club América who is undefeated in the last 27 games. Chivas USA beat América 1-0 on March 23, at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez in Juárez, Chihuahua with an Ezra Hendrickson goal. Ezra's header marked Chivas USA's first goal in franchise history.


CHIVAS' WORLD CHAMPIONS: Chivas USA congratulates its sister team, Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara for its four players who contributed in the Mexican U-17 National Team's 3-0 victory over Brazil last Sunday for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Championship, held at the Estadio Nacional of Lima, Peru. Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara had four starting players present at the tournament, goalkeeper Sergio Arias, team captain and defender Patricio Araujo, midfielder Omar Esparza and the top scorer and Golden Boot winner, forward Carlos Vela.


CHIVAS USA SOCCER ACADEMY: The Chivas USA Soccer Academy continues play this week in preparation for this weekend's slate of games in Baldwin Park, with sessions at The Home Depot Center's Field 7 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. MINI-CHIVAGIRLS: The ChivaGirls are offering a clinic for Mini-ChivaGirls, where young women from 3 to 15 years old will be taught to dance and perform cheering routines.
