Weekly update: FCD to visit champs

FC DALLAS TRAVELS TO PLAY D.C. UNITED ON SATURDAY:


FC Dallas will continue their longest stretch away from home when they travel to play D.C. United on Saturday, May 28 (6:30 p.m. CST). The match will be the second game of a team-record four straight on the road from May 22 - June 12. They began the road trip with a 5-2 victory at Chivas USA and will finish the trip with Real Salt Lake and Chicago.

The club is currently in first place in the Western Conference with a 5-1-3 record for 18 points. The 18 points after nine games is the best start for the club in team history.


The D.C. United match on Saturday will be televised on Fox Sports Net Southwest with Brad Sham on play-by-play and Dave Dir providing color analysis. It can also be heard on English Radio (KFCD - 990 AM) and on Spanish Radio (Radio AYO KZMP - 1540 AM).


O'BRIEN LOOKING TO BECOME MLS PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
FC Dallas midfielder Ronnie O'Brien made a strong case for MLS Player of the Week honors with two goals and two assists during two matches with Colorado on Wednesday and at Chivas USA on Sunday. The league will close voting for the award today and announce it tomorrow. He scored the game-tying goal against Colorado and then tallied the game-winning goal along with two assists at Chivas USA. He now ranks tied for first in the league in shots on goal (17), second in shots (29), tied for second in assists (5) and tied for sixth in goals (4).


FC DALLAS RESERVES TO PLAY DFW TORNADOS TUESDAY NIGHT:
The FC Dallas Reserves will take on the DFW Tornados of the PDL (Premier Developmental League) on Tuesday, May 24. The match will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. at Grapevine Mustang/Panther Stadium. Tickets will be available at the gate on game day for $10, while kids under seven are free.


GARLICK MOVES INTO TIE FOR THIRD ON MLS ALL-TIME WINS LIST:
FC Dallas goalkeeper Scott Garlick made three saves in a 5-2 win over Chivas USA last night and moved into a tie with Tony Meola for third on the MLS all-time wins list (89 career wins). Ahead of Garlick on the all-time wins list are Kevin Hartman (98 wins) and Zach Thornton (94 wins). With a career 89-74-21 record, Garlick is 5-1-3 this season and ranks second in the league in wins. He is also third in goals-against-average (1.11) and tied for second in shutouts (3).
