Real Madrid celebrated its 100th year anniversary on March 6, 2002. The club finished second in the Spanish First Division (La Liga) during the 2004-05 campaign, finishing four points behind FC Barcelona after collecting 25 wins, five draws and eight losses on the season. The club was originally named Madrid Club de Fútbol, but was allowed to use the title Real after King Alfonso XIII of Spain gave the club an official blessing in June 1920, an honor given to them for their successful seasons up to that point. Their reputation for signing big-name players has led them to receive the nickname Los Galacticos, which refers to their star-studded line-up filled with some of the most recognizable names and faces the sport of soccer has known.

#1 - Iker Casillas Fernández - Goalkeeper
Country: Spain; D.O.B.: 05/20/1981
Casillas grew up in Madrid's suburb Móstoles and joined Real Madrid's youth system for the 1990-1991 season.
Led Spain to the title at the 1999 World Youth Championship (U-20s).
Now a member of Spain's first team, Casillas was one of the key players for the Under-21 National Team's World Championship winning side in 2000.
Has taken center stage in the world's biggest competitions, backstopping for his country at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 Championship. He also helped Real Madrid to the 2000 and 2002 UEFA Champions League titles.
#3 - Roberto Carlos Da Silva - Defender

Played for Union San Juan and Palmeiras in his native Brazil before transferring to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan for the 1995/96 season.
In 1996, he moved to Real Madrid and back to his customary left-back position where he helped the "Merengues" win the 1996-97 La Liga Primera title and the 1997-98 UEFA Champions League.
He has 105 caps for Brazil, and helped his country win the World Cup in 2002 after finishing second in 1998.
Roberto Carlos has won it all: the UEFA Champions Cup, FIFA World Cup, European Supercup and an Intercontinental Cup.
He was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004.

By signing a pro contract with his parents' help, the Cannes midfielder made his French Division debut at age 16.
Joined French First Division club Bordeaux in 1992 and played in the UEFA Cup Final with them in the 95-96 season.
Joined Italian power Juventus in time for the 1996-97 season. During his stint at Juventus, Zidane helped the club win several honors, including the 1996 European Super Cup, the 1996 European/South American Cup, the 1997 League Super Cup, 1997 and 1998 Serie A titles, in addition to spots in the 1997 and 1998 Champions League Finals.
Named the FIFA World Player Award winner in both 1998 and 2000, in addition to the Golden Ball winner as Europe's top player in 1998.
On June 9, 2001, "Zizzou" became the most expensive player in soccer history at the time when Real Madrid acquired him for 46 million pounds (roughly $66 million US Dollars).

Has won four separate Spanish League titles (1995, 1997, 2001, 2003), all with Real Madrid.
Is the leading scorer in the UEFA Champions League, with 49 goals in 95 career matches. Raul also earned the Champions League's Best Forward award in 2000, 2001 & 2002.
Represented Spain in the 1998 & 2002 FIFA World Cups and the 2000 & 2004 European Championships.

Player who plays as a defensive midfielder for Real Madrid, though also has the ability to play as an attacking midfielder if necessary.
Gravesen's career started in 1995 with Vejle BK in his native Denmark. He moved to Hambourg SV (German Bundesliga) in 1997 before spending four and a half seasons with Everton (English Premier League) beginning in 2000.
On January 14, 2005, Gravesen joined Real Madrid for a fee of £2.5 million.
For Denmark, Gravesen has been capped over 50 times and played for his country at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2000 & 2004 European Championships.

Luxemburgo worked his way up the ladder of Brazilian soccer, having served as manager of over a dozen clubs in his native country since making his coaching debut for Rio de Janeiro side Campo Grande in 1983.
After coaching at several regional level clubs, Luxemburgo was eventually named manager of some of the country's most famed clubs, including Flamengo, FC Santos, Palmeiras, Corinthians and Cruzeiro.
