Statement from Greg Andrulis

COLUMBUS, Ohio - It is with great disappointment that my tenure with the Columbus Crew has closed after 24 years as a successful collegiate and professional soccer coach. It is the first time in 24 seasons that I have been unable to fulfill my contractual obligations after being terminated for the first time in my career. Although difficult for me personally and for my family I have much to be thankful for, including the opportunity to work for a first class organization for 10 years and to have apprenticed under the late Tom Fitzgerald, who had the confidence to hire a Division I collegiate coach to the Columbus Crew.

I would like to thank Lamar Hunt, the Hunt family, and General Manager Mark McCullers for allowing me the opportunity to coach the Columbus Crew and renewing my contract last season. I owe a great deal of gratitude to my assistant coaches, my players, the fans and most importantly the Crew staff for their help over the past 10 years to help me be the best coach possible. I wish the Crew, Robert Warzycha and the team nothing but the best and trust they will make every effort necessary to bring a winning team to this market. The fans of the Columbus Crew deserve nothing less.</p>
