Standing room only tickets to go on sale Monday for Aug. 21 match vs. Freddy Adu and D.C. United

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Crew interim general manager Mark McCullers announced Saturday that reserved seating is almost sold out and that standing room only seating would go on sale Monday morning at 10 a.m. for the Crew's August 21 game vs. Freddy Adu and Eastern Conference rival D.C. United. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised live on Fox Sports Net Ohio.

The Crew has also been selling 10 person tables in the stadium's Huntington Club for a special post-game "Q&A" session with Freddy Adu. A limited number of tables remain available at $1,000 per table, including food, and may be reserved by contacting the Crew front office at 447-CREW.

Tickets for Crew home games can be acquired at the Crew Stadium Box Office, at any area Kroger Ticket Master outlet, via Ticker Master phone at 614-431-3600 or on line at TheCrew.com.

"Soccer fans from over 20 states and Canada have purchased tickets for the D.C. United match on August 21," said McCullers. "Our organization has been working to make sure that The Crew experience on that day is something very special."

Widely recognized as the most talented young soccer player in the world today, the 15-year-old Adu became the youngest professional athlete in the history of modern American team sports when he took the field for his MLS debut on April 3, 2004, in front of a national television audience on ABC Sports.

The first overall selection in the 2004 SuperDraft by D.C. United, Adu has already played in 20 games and scored three goals and has one assist. An immigrant from Ghana who moved to the U.S. with his family at the age of eight, Adu joined MLS after a stellar U.S youth national team career which saw him star at both the under-17 and under-20 World Championships in 2003.
