ShoreSave Goalkeeper Academy to host goalkeeper and striker clinic on Sept. 18

CHICAGO - The Chicago Fire has announced that ShoreSave Goalkeeper Academy, headed by Fire assistant coach Daryl Shore, in conjunction with Silver Mortgage will host the fourth annual ShoreSave Goalkeeper and Striker Clinic on Sunday, Sept. 18. The clinic, which is open to players ages U-8 and above, will take place at Frontier Park, located at 3415 Book Road in Naperville, IL, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. CT. The registration fee for the clinic is $30, and ShoreSave Goalkeeper Academy has announced that proceeds from the event will be donated to youth soccer clubs in the New Orleans area recently affected by Hurricane Katrina.

"We feel it is important to do what we can here to help the soccer community in New Orleans rebuild, and we thought that the best way to do that was through the ShoreSave clinic," said Shore, who played and coached for the A-League's New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers and coached youth soccer in the New Orleans area for four years prior to joining the Fire in 2000. "Some of the Fire players approached me to see how they could help out, so we're looking forward to a night where kids can receive some great instruction and learn a few skills while at the same time helping out a very worthwhile cause."

Several members of the Fire roster and coaching staff, including goalkeepers Zach Thornton and David Mahoney, will team up with Shore for the event. Also taking part from the Fire will be defenders C.J. Brown and Jared Montz, midfielder Logan Pause, forward Nate Jaqua and Head Coach Dave Sarachan. The Fire players and coaches will also be available during a 30-minute autograph session for the attendees following the clinic.
