Columbus Crew interim general manager Mark McCullers announced today that the Crew has again partnered with Dominion Homes and Budweiser for the second annual Dominion Homes Copa Victoria adult Hispanic soccer tournament.
bvThe 24-team, single-elimination tournament will begin this Saturday, July 17, and conclude with the championship game at 4:30 p.m. at Crew Stadium prior to The Crew's home game on Saturday, September 18. The championship game on September 18 is part of Budweiser Hispanic Heritage Night at Crew Stadium. The Crew takes on the MetroStars at 7:30 p.m.
"The Dominion Homes Copa Victoria tournament allows the Crew and its partners to reach out to a growing segment of our audience and fan base," said McCullers. "The Hispanic and Latino communities continue to be important and integral parts of the central Ohio region."
Tournament games will be played at The Crew's training facility at Obetz (July 17, July 24, August 7, August 14, August 21, September 4 and September 11) with the championship match being held at Crew Stadium (September 18).
All 480 participants in the tournament receive one complimentary ticket to the September 18 Crew game, $10 in food vouchers and a limited edition Dominion Homes Copa Victoria t-shirt.
Tournament standings, pairings, rules and information will be posted on the official web site of the Columbus Crew, www.thecrew.com, www.dominionhomes.com and in other print media. The winner of the tournament will be awarded the championship trophy at halftime of the September 18 Crew game.
