REAL SALT LAKE 2, LOS ANGELES GALAXY 1
REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER
On the play of goalkeeper Jay Nolly:
"Jay was just special tonight and that is the whole reason we wanted him in the SuperDraft. It is ironic that we got the draft pick from L.A. to get him. He made us look good tonight."
On the RSL defense:
"Defensively we are getting better. We just have to stop giving the ball away in our own third."
On the importance of this win:
"It is a huge confidence builder that we play a team that is in first place in the conference and beat them."
REAL SALT LAKE DEFENDER BRIAN DUNSETH
On the team's defense:
"We are starting to play with a little bit more passion, more aggressiveness and getting on the same page as a team."
"We are definitely improving, but I think we still lack the awareness of where we are defensively. In transition I think we do a great job."
REAL SALT LAKE GOALKEEPER JAY NOLLY
On his first MLS game:
"I was nervous in the beginning of the day, but I started to get more and more excited, but once I got here and saw the stadium I was ready to go."
On opportunities in the game:
"That is the game of soccer. Both teams get breaks, some went our way, some went their way and in the end we came out with the victory."
REAL SALT LAKE FORWARD CLINT MATHIS
On today's game:
"The first half was a little shaky at times, but we came out in the second half wanting to win the game and that has been the difference from the rest of the games this season. We really wanted to win this to come back a goal down against probably one of the top two or three teams in this league it was a good win for us."
REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER TIGER FITZPATRICK
On tonight's win:
"It was awesome, unbelievable crowd once again; the Los Angeles Galaxy's goal kind of set us back again, but teams never say die. We had something to prove, especially after the Chivas game. We got the two goals and it was beautiful."
LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON
On the game:
"I'm not as disappointed as some of our boys in the locker room are tonight. I think that we if just finished off one or two more of our early chances in the first half then it is a different game ... but give Real credit. They played some tough defense tonight."
On creating chances and playing to win on the road:
"I think we did. We created some earlier chances that we should have put away. No question, we came here to play to win and we created a number of opportunities. But you really have to give Jay Nolly credit; he played an outstanding match tonight and his debut has to be very special for him."
LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER CHRIS ALBRIGHT
On the game:
"There is no excuse for that loss. There are enough veteran guys on this team that if we are up 1-0 on the road then we should be able to walk out of here 1-0. I can see if they hit a bomb from 30 [yards] there is nothing you can do about that, but we've got to do better in the back giving up soft goals. It has been a theme and it just has to get better."
On his assist:
"I received the ball out wide on the wing against [Leslie] Fitzpatrick and he lost me. I had a good first touch to get it to the endline and just tried to get the cross over into the box. Jovan did a good job of putting it away."
LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD JOVAN KIROVSKI
On the game:
"We had great chances, but we have to put them away especially when we went up one nil and we had a chance to go up by two several times. There is no excuse in the second half; we gave up two very bad goals, feel asleep, and got them back in the game. We gave them that win."
