Reserves: Dallas beats Chivas USA

With a goal from second-half substitute Alex Woods and an earlier tally by forward Abe Thompson, the reserve team of FC Dallas defeated their Chivas USA counterparts 2-1 this morning in a match played on the Track Field of The Home Depot Center.

Dallas striker Thompson pounced on a loose ball inside Chivas USA's penalty area in the 60th minute to open the scoring for the visitors, while Isaac Romo pulled the home side level twelve minutes later with a four-yard blast following a Milton Blanco cross.

But Woods, who replaced right winger Mario Torres at the beginning of the second half, would bag the winner for the Texans just three minutes later, taking a pass from midfielder Ramón Núñez in the 75th minute and blasting it past Chivas USA goalkeeper Javier Barragán.

FC Dallas thus claim full points from its first match in the MLS Reserve Division, while Chivas USA remain on three points after two games, following their 2-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday in Chivas USA's Reserve Division debut.

Chivas USA's reserves will face the Los Angeles Galaxy reserves this Sunday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. PT (1:00 p.m. ET) at The Home Depot Center, the day after the first team's showdown with the Galaxy in the inaugural edition of the 'Los Angeles Derby' or 'Clásico Angelino'. FC Dallas' reserves return to action on May 15 with an away fixture against San Jose.
